Project Management Circa 2025 brings together 41 project management experts to envision and describe the practice of project management across regions and industries, in the year 2025. The book, scheduled for release on 11 October 2009, is the first of its kind to discuss what future changes can be expected in the use of project management, and how organizations around the world might be impacted by these changes. "Project management has evolved over many decades as a means for organizations to deal with change, and is currently one of the fastest growing professional disciplines in the world," said Gregory Balestrero, PMI president and CEO. "It is our hope that Project Management Circa 2025 will inspire dialogue about the project management profession; create awareness of what industry changes can be expected in the future and help facilitate the management of these changes." Edited by project management luminaries David Cleland, PhD, and Bopaya Bidanda, PhD, Project Management Circa 2025 is comprised of 29 chapters grouped into five sections that depict the following aspects of the future practice of project management: -- Geographic and industry applications -- Systems applications -- Organizational applications -- Government -- Trends Contributing authors collectively represent industry, government agencies, academic institutions, associations and consulting teams from around the world. Each chapter in Project Management Circa 2025 follows a general outline that sets the stage with the current state of project management with respect to the chapters topic. The authors then provide an overview of the expected technological, economic, political and competitive changes they foresee in the years leading to 2025 and identify future trends and major characteristics that are implied by these predicted changes. With this structure, each chapter grounds the reader in the present practice of project management, in addition to envisioning the practice of the future.
Project Management Circa 2025 will launch during PMI(R) Global Congress 2009--North America (10-13 October, Orlando, FL, USA).
The book is available for pre-order at PMI.org/Marketplace, where it is being offered at the introductory sale price of US$39.95 (regularly US$49.95) until 14 October.
